The frame of premium 27″ hexagon is made with side walls of 1/8″ thick aluminum 1-1/4″ high. Two layers of tiles made from pressed basalt fibers insulate and dissipate the heat. Basalt is a fire-proof volcanic rock. The basalt are recessed a little from the side walls of the frame. Hard rubber feet raise the frame 3/4″ above the deck for air flow and to ensure that your deck will not become stained by trapped moisture. It is best to place the feet of your fire pit within the side walls and sitting on the basalt tiles. The inside dimension of the 27″ hexagon is 26-1/2″ flat side to opposite flat side. For best protection, the diameter of your fire pit should not be much greater than the 27″ width of the DeckProtect.
